Today for review I’ve got a torch, or flashlight, but not just any plain light though, this one is from Joby the makers of the Gorillapod. I do quite a bit of work inside computers and other work around the house and I’ve always found need for a flashlight to help see things a bit better. When you’re using a regular flashlight it can be hard because you’ve got to hold it in one hand leaving you with only one hand to work with, sometimes that just isn’t going to work, you need two hands to get some things done. The Gorillatorch will free up both of your hands for the job you’re doing, it’s very bright, and it’s well made. Overall I found it a very useful little product, that anyone would be happy with.

Unboxing:

The Gorillatorch comes in a plastic box, easy to open, not the sealed clamshell style.

Inside we find the light itself and three AA batteries are included.

The top of the Gorillatorch is the light itself, battery compartment and the switch which can be turned to adjust the level of brightness.

The legs are adjustable in that they can bend in most any way you need them to, they’re also magnetic on the bottom.

The light itself is a tiny little LED protected by a clear plastic cover.

Testing:

The batteries go into the side, the cover just twists on and off and locks into place.

For testing I turned it on and wow is this thing bright! I was totally surprised by just how bright this thing is when you consider just how tiny the LED in it is.

It’s near Halloween so I figured a pumpkin decoration would work for the pictures.

Here’s a picture without the light on, just very low ambient light in the room, taken from about ten feet away:

It’s very bright, much brighter than is shown in the picture actually, my camera toned down the brightness level a bit or it would have been washed out. It’s more of a spot light really, as you can see it’s much brighter in the center. That’s what you want though if you’re working, you want the light directed on a certain area usually.

Conclusion:

The Gorillapod is an excellent product, it’s very useful and I think anyone will find it a handy little product. I really like the idea that it has the flexible legs and the feet are magnetic, it will work in most any situation to help you free up both hand to get the job done.
