Ah, Halloween… the time of year for creepy crawlies, spooky noises and things that go bump in the night. The holiday that has children (and adults) don costumes and go out ‘Trick or Treating’ for yummy goodies. And that time of year when you’ll find tons of horror movies on TV this month.
And if you have an iPhone, you can hold a little Halloween in your hands (okay, that sounds dirty), but you know what I mean. There are lots of Halloween themed iPhone apps… many of which are great for anytime of the year, too.
Here’s a small collection you may want to check out:

Not suitable for younger children. Sells for $1.99.
Halloween Memory Match iPhone App Screenshot
Halloween Memory Match Game by ObjectGraph LLC – is the classic concentration or memory game with a Halloween twist. Featuring spooky icons you can test your memory and try to get through it with the fewest mistakes. A great way to keep your mind sharp and it’s perfect for the whole family. My six-year old loves it. Whether he does better than me… I’ll never tell. Appropriate for 4 and up. It’s free.
Zombieville USA iPhone App Screenshot
Zombieville USA by Mika Mobile – is for all you zombie slayers out there. Zombieville USA can boast being one of the biggest hits on the app store. When your town has been taken over by the living-dead the only thing to do is go through their pockets for change. You can defend yourself with weapons like baseball bats, shotguns, rocket launchers and much more (fifteen weapons in all). Be smart with your cash and ammo or you’ll be zombie food. Not just for Halloween. Rated 9 and up. Sells for $1.99. They also have Zombieville Lite.

Crazy Pumpkin iPhone App Screenshots
Crazy Pumpkin by Ezone.com – is touted as the most downloaded Halloween app of 2008… and it’s back this year in an updated version. All you have to do is swipe through the choices of eyes, noses and mouths to create a unique pumpkin to email from your iPhone to your friends. Rated 4 and up. Sells for $0.99. Spooky Halloween Puzzle iPhone App Screenshot
Spooky Halloween Puzzle by Synthetic Bits, Inc. – is the sliding pieces type puzzle game. You slide the tiles around until you’ve put the puzzle together correctly. I have to admit that I’m not very good at these types of puzzles. I’m not sure why, but they drive me crazy. However, my husband can do them quickly. The Spooky Halloween Puzzle is perfect for Halloween (with various Halloween themed images) but also great anytime because you can use your own photos to create puzzle after puzzle. There are three levels of difficulty (easy for me) and it keeps score – so you can try to beat you and your friend’s top scores. Rated 9 and up. Sells for $1.99.
Horror Master Trivia iPhone App Screenshot
Horror Master Trivia by Babaroga, llc. – has two of my favorite things, 1) trivia and 2) horror. I am a big trivia buff; I remember the days of playing “Trivial Pursuit” every chance I got. And since I watch horror movies all year round… this game is good for more than just Halloween. With over 1400 questions in categories like, ‘New Blood’ and ‘Women of Horror’ and spooky music and a dripping blood timer you can hone your horror knowledge and be the top scorer. They’ll have a 1.2 “Chamber of Horrors” add-on coming soon with 666 more questions (see what they did there?). Rated 12 and up. Sells for $0.99.
