Adding items to your tracker
Q: What exactly is a product page?
A: A product page features only one product. It usually contains an image of the product, product information, and has several retail prices listed in a table below. Click here to see an example of a product page. Notice the part of the URL with the several digit number. That is the important part of the URL so when coping and pasting URL's be sure that is in there.
Q: I searched for a product, copied and pasted the URL but received an error.
A: When searching for a product by name you will be taken to one of two pages: A search result page or a product page. For example searching for the term "ipod" will bring you to this page. This is NOT a product page; this is a search result page - the URL of the search result page will return an error if you try to track it. To get to a product page from a search result page, simply click on any of the product images. Once there then you should see a several digit number in the URL. Copy and paste this into the track item field.
Q: What the heck does this thing do?
A: The product price tracker is a simple to use tool to help you make smart decisions when purchasing items. You can use this Price Tracker to track the price of any item you want, see what the price of the product has been over the past 30 days, and you can also set alert prices to notify you when the product's price becomes cheap enough for you to consider buying it.
Q: What is an alert price? Why would I want to set one?
A: An alert price can be set, and once/if the product's price drops below your designated alert price an email and private message will be sent to you notifying you that the product is currently cheaper than your alert price. The email that the alert is sent to is the one that you used when registering your account. If you would like to change your account email simply go here and click the "Accoutn Related Settings" link on the left. The private message that is sent out can be read by checking your private message center.
Q: Once I set an alert does it stay forever? Can I change it?
A: You can change your alert price to anything you want at anytime you wish. If the alert is trigger then it is automatically removed for that product.
Issues within your prodcut tracker page
Q: Why is the current price for my item lower than the "Low" price?
A: The current price for items is real-time whereas the Low and High prices are updated several times a day. So it is possible that a item could be cheaper than the listed Low price. Once the next update comes the Low price will be updated to the correct amount.
Q: I added a product but the Price History chart is blank. Why is this?
A: If you are the first person to track an item, price data for that item has not been collected yet. However, since you are now tracking the item you will begin to see the chart's data populate as each day goes on.
Strange errors
Q: I am getting some very strange errors when adding/tracking/viewing items. What can I do?

Q: I keep trying to add a product and I'm positive that it has a masterid in the URL but it does not show up in my tracker after I add it.
A: When adding products to your tracker, the product must have a merchant listed as selling item otherwise the item doesn't have any price listed because obviously noone has it in stock or is selling it. If there is no price then we cannot track the product until there is a merchant listed for it.
