Uplink: Hacker Elite is a very unique, one-of-a-kind game, with nothing else quite like it. You play role of a wannabe hacker and go about crashing databases, unleashing viruses, laundering money, catching criminals, incriminating innocent people, and saving the electronic world. All this and you still have to manage covering your tracks. In short, it’s everything you always wanted to do on the internet, but didn’t have the stones to try.

Uplink is a very simple game to learn, which is fortunate due to the fact that there is no tutorial. The whole premise is that you are a hacker in the future who works for a company that employs agents to hack for them. You and the internet community get caught up in a web of intrigue and will eventually work to stop a rogue entity from destroying the entire internet, or work to destroy it. The actual game play itself gets rather repetitive after awhile. You will choose to accept certain assignments that are available from Uplink Corporation and upon completion of those assignments, you will receive some money which you can spend on upgrades for you computer system. Complete enough assignments and your rank will increase allowing you to do more difficult and dangerous assignments, which will net you more money.
